Poetry Mosaic is the online poetry invention of London based poet, Naomi Woddis. I find that my writing process is changing rapidly and I am using found text in my work. Sometimes I will do an extended interview and this will form the basis or springboard for a poem. I mix some extracts of the conversation with my own writing.

Poetry Mosaic goes a step further. The responses to specific questions will be the starting point for the poetry on this site. Short phrases from these replies will be cut and pasted with longer pieces of my own work and the finished poems will be posted on the Poetry Mosaic blog. Each respondent will be fully acknowledged at the end of each poem on the Poetry Mosaic blog and if they wish have their biog added on the Contributor’s page. I will retain sole copyright for the poem that I create out of the responses.

About the process
Initially I was not going to answer the questions I had asked and instead respond to each answer with poetry. However, after some thought, I thought it would be churlish not adding my answers to the blog.

I could have asked questions that would reap more poetic answers. For example instead of asking ‘What is money?’ a more workshop style question could be ‘If money had a voice what would it say?’ I have nothing against these sort of questions, in fact I think they are invaluable in igniting creative output.

A mosaic is made of many tiles, even found tiles, cobalt blue will be found alongside grannies tea-set. It is this disjuncture that I really enjoy. I deliberately designed the first set of questions to yield thoughtful and less descriptive answers, rather like assembling a cut-up poem from a newspaper article.

Please email me on poetrymosaic@btinternet.com if you fancy taking part. Please make replies no more than 100 words.

What happens after I send my responses in ?

I will be collating the responses to the questions I asked and then I will begin working on a poem from the replies I have received. I would very much like to credit you on the Poetry Mosaic blog. The options as to how this is done are listed below:

1. Your answers will be posted on the blog in full as will your name and a link to your website/blog if you have one. The finished poem will appear underneath in the same blog posting.

2. Just your name and a link to your website/blog will be posted, and again the finished poem will appear underneath in the same posting.

3. If you prefer to remain anonymous that’s fine too – just let me know.

It looks like being a really exciting project
